Sindh Govt Ends Federal Authority Over Provincial Development Projects

Karachi:The Sindh government has decided to end the federal government’s authority over development projects in the province and formally directed the **Pakistan Infrastructure Development Company Limited (PIDCL)** to stop work on provincial schemes.
In an official letter, the Sindh government stated that a meeting chaired by **Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on September 26** reviewed PIDCL’s role in the province. The letter declared PIDCL’s involvement in **urban package projects** as “illegal” and instructed the company to restrict itself only to the completion of **former Pak-WAPDA-related schemes**.
The provincial government emphasized that **Karachi and Hyderabad urban development packages** do not fall within PIDCL’s jurisdiction. It further warned that PIDCL must refrain from violating the agreed framework between the federal and Sindh governments.
