Sindh Govt Launches Emergency Measures Amid Super Flood Threat: Sharjeel Memon

Karachi: Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit **Sharjeel Inam Memon** has said that the provincial government has initiated **emergency measures** in anticipation of a possible **super flood** that could bring up to **900,000 cusecs of water** pressure at Sukkur and Guddu barrages.

He said that **Chief Minister Sindh** has personally inspected the barrages and sensitive embankments, stressing that the government’s top priority is the **protection of human lives, livestock, and the safety of barrages**.

According to Memon, the **district administration, PDMA, Pakistan Navy, and Pakistan Army** are actively engaged in evacuation and relief operations. A total of **192 boats** have been deployed for timely evacuation in the **katcha areas**, while detailed surveys of populations, houses, and livestock have already been completed and handed over to district authorities.

He added that **thousands of families** are being relocated to safe zones, government schools, public buildings, and tent cities, where **food, drinking water, and healthcare facilities** are being provided at relief camps.

The minister further stated that the **CM has instructed officials** to accelerate flood-fighting work and ensure a rapid response to any emergency. Machinery, stones, and staff have been stationed at **KK Bund, Shaheen Bund, Qadirpur, Rawanti, and other sensitive points**, with officials assigned to **round-the-clock monitoring**.

Calling the situation a **collective test**, Memon said that **President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari** are personally monitoring the situation and have directed party workers to assist affected communities.

He appealed to the **public and media** to cooperate with the administration instead of spreading **rumors and fear**.
