NAFSA Establishment Marks Key Milestone for Agricultural Sector Reforms

Islamabad: Significant progress is being made in Pakistan’s agricultural sector with the facilitation of the SIFC, leading to the establishment of the new Food Safety Authority, “NAFSA.” This marks a vital step in modernizing the country’s agricultural practices.
The primary goal of NAFSA is to introduce a modern agricultural system that aligns with international standards. The new authority has merged the DPP and Animal Quarantine departments to streamline operations and enhance efficiency in the agricultural sector.
One of the notable achievements under NAFSA’s formation is the reduction of unnecessary use of methyl bromide, saving up to 40,000 rupees per container. This is expected to not only contribute to cost savings but also ensure environmentally responsible practices.
Moreover, the upgradation of DPP’s laboratories and the development of modern infrastructure have already begun, facilitating the implementation of advanced technologies and processes in the agricultural sector.
With the support of the SIFC, NAFSA aims to promote transparency and modernization within Pakistan’s agricultural industry, setting a strong foundation for sustainable growth and international competitiveness.
