Relief for Former Senator Tanveer in Parliamentary Secretary Murder Case

Rawalpindi: Former Senator of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Chaudhry Tanveer, has been granted bail in the murder case of former Parliamentary Secretary, Chaudhry Adnan. The Additional District and Sessions Judge, Majid Hussain Gadhi, approved Tanveer’s bail against two surety bonds worth Rs. 1 million each.
Chaudhry Tanveer was arrested on June 17 by the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench. He has been accused of playing a role in the conspiracy and planning of the murder of former Punjab Assembly member, Chaudhry Adnan. The murder case was filed on February 12, 2024, at the Civil Lines police station. Chaudhry Adnan was targeted and killed near the Police Lines Gate.
In addition to Tanveer, Osama Chaudhry, Daniyal Chaudhry, and Chaudhry Chingez are also named in the case. During the proceedings, the Additional Sessions Judge remarked that there is no substantial evidence against the accused and that a person cannot be kept in custody for an extended period without concrete proof. The court instructed that the accused should appear in court whenever summoned and continue to pursue the case.
The defense lawyer, Chaudhry Yasir, argued that Chaudhry Tanveer had proven his innocence and no evidence had been presented to substantiate the charges of conspiracy to murder. He further stated that the surety bonds would be submitted to the court shortly.
It is worth noting that Chaudhry Tanveer is suffering from a serious heart condition and is currently receiving treatment at the Institute of Cardiology. Following the approval of his bail, the court directed his immediate release.
