Cyber Crime Agency Summons Aliema Khan, Aftab Iqbal, and Others Over Alleged Anti-State Propaganda During Pakistan-India Tensions

Pakistan’s **National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA)** has summoned four prominent individuals — including **Aliema Khan**, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, **YouTuber Aftab Iqbal**, and political activists **Sanam Javed** and **Falak Javed** — for allegedly spreading propaganda against state institutions on social media during recent tensions between **Pakistan and India**.
According to official notices, the NCCIA initiated an inquiry on **May 27** into their alleged online activities during the period of heightened military and political strain between the two countries. The four have been directed to appear **in person at the NCCIA Lahore office on Thursday, June 5**.
The agency claims that during a critical phase of national security, these individuals **used social media platforms to disseminate content** that could undermine public confidence in the armed forces and state institutions. The notices have been issued as part of the agency’s broader effort to **counter digital misinformation and anti-state narratives**, especially in times of national crisis.
Media reports indicate that this move signals a tightening of state control over digital expression, particularly targeting high-profile figures perceived to have political influence or dissenting views.
The development comes amid growing concerns over **freedom of speech versus national security**, as political activists and commentators navigate an increasingly restrictive online environment in Pakistan.
The summoned individuals have not yet issued formal statements in response to the notices.
