Quetta: Clerics Emphasize Unity and Commemoration on Imam Hussain’s Martyrdom

Quetta: Prominent scholars from Sunni and Shia communities highlighted the teachings of Imam Hussain as a call for unity, solidarity, and adherence to divine commandments among Muslims in Pakistan. They spoke at a joint press conference at Quetta Press Club, including Qari Abdul Rahman, President of Balochistan Shia Conference Engineer Haji Javad, Ghulam Ali Hasnain, Allama Syed Hashim Musavi, Allama Jumma Asadi, Syed Hikmatullah, Allama Syed Samiullah, Syed Atiqur Rahman, and others.

The scholars underscored that Imam Hussain advocated for Shariah, brotherhood, and unity, principles which Allah has commanded Muslims to uphold collectively. They called upon the Muslim community to foster unity and avoid sectarianism, division, discord, and extremism, emphasizing that those who discuss differences between Shia and Sunni have no connection to Islam.

They stated that the sacred month of Muharram marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar and serves as a solemn reminder of martyrdom, when Muslims worldwide commemorate the tragic events at Karbala. They reflected on the historical context of migration and persecution, highlighting how Muharram teaches Muslims to stand against oppression and uphold justice until the Day of Judgment.

The scholars concluded that Muharram is a month of reflection, awakening, and determination for Muslims, reminding them of their duty to uphold the truth and strive for freedom, independence, and liberty. They affirmed that Imam Hussain’s stance against tyrannical regimes is a timeless lesson, urging Muslims to never surrender to injustice and to continue demanding an Islamic governance that embodies the ideals of justice and righteousness.
