Danish Kaneria Reacts Sharply to Shahid Afridi’s Pahalgam Statement, Renews Allegations

Karachi: Former Pakistan Test cricketer Danish Kaneria has launched a fresh attack on ex-captain Shahid Afridi following the latter’s comments on the recent Pahalgam incident. Kaneria, who is serving a lifetime ban due to his involvement in a spot-fixing scandal, accused Afridi of harboring extremist views and once again alleged that Afridi tried to force him to convert his religion and refused to share meals with him.
Taking to social media, Kaneria claimed, “Shahid Afridi has consistently exhibited extremist tendencies. He tried to coerce me into changing my religion and discriminated against me during our time together in the national team.”
His remarks came in response to Afridi’s comments on the Pahalgam attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, where Afridi criticized the Indian government’s quick move to blame Pakistan. “Even if a firecracker goes off there, Pakistan gets blamed,” Afridi said. “There are 800,000 Indian troops in occupied Kashmir, yet such incidents still occur. It just shows your incompetence.”
In the wake of the Pahalgam incident, the Indian government has reportedly blocked several Pakistani YouTube channels, including those run by former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar and ex-cricketer Basit Ali, in a move widely seen as an attempt to suppress alternative narratives and hide facts from the Indian public.
Kaneria, who has faced criticism for his frequent anti-Pakistan statements since moving abroad, continues to be a controversial figure in cricket and media circles.
