Kalthoom Niaz Baloch Condemns Possible Military Operations in Balochistan, Calls for Political Dialogue

Quetta:Kalthoom Niaz Baloch, Provincial Secretary of the National Party’s Women’s Wing and Member of the Provincial Assembly, has strongly reacted to the news of a potential large-scale military operation in Balochistan. She stated that the excessive use of force would not resolve the issues but instead exacerbate them. Balochistan, she said, is already suffering from extreme exploitation, enforced disappearances, and oppression, and further military operations would only push the people further against the wall.
In her statement, Kalthoom Niaz Baloch emphasized that the province is grappling with insecurity and high unemployment, leaving people from all walks of life distressed. She argued that no problem could be solved through operations, as Balochistan’s issues are inherently political. She insisted that these issues should be addressed through political dialogue rather than through the use of force, which, she noted, had only worsened the situation since 2006.
Baloch expressed her belief that the National Party remains committed to democratic thinking and has always advocated for resolving the issues in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through negotiations. She warned that the dream of establishing peace through military force is a dangerous fallacy, and past actions have only sowed hatred and mistrust within the province.
Kalthoom Niaz Baloch cautioned that if the state continues its policy of suppressing issues with force, the consequences will be further unrest, hatred, and uncertainty. She called for the abandonment of any plans to subjugate the Baloch people and stated that attempts to marginalize them would fail. She urged the state to initiate a meaningful political process, as true peace in the region could only be achieved through dialogue, not through violence and oppression.
