Inflation Remains Unchecked in Quetta as Ramadan’s First Ten Days Near an End

Quetta: As the first ten days of Ramadan come to an end, inflation continues to burden the residents of Quetta, with no relief in sight. Despite the presence of Sasta Bazaar, shopkeepers and profiteers have been selling goods at inflated prices, leaving fasting individuals without any reprieve.
The district administration and the price control committee have failed to take action, allowing the prices of essential items to soar. In Quetta, chicken meat is being sold for Rs. 600 to 670 per kilogram, potatoes at Rs. 300 to 400 for five kilograms, tomatoes at Rs. 50 to 80 per kilogram, pumpkin at Rs. 100 per kilogram, spinach at Rs. 50 per bundle, turnip at Rs. 50 to 80 per kilogram, onions at Rs. 350 for five kilograms, and ginger at Rs. 800 per kilogram.
Furthermore, milk is being sold for Rs. 200, and yogurt at Rs. 250 per kilogram. Despite the price control committee’s official rates for milk, yogurt, and other food items, shopkeepers have set their own prices, exploiting customers.
The authorities have remained limited to making promises, and until the end of Ramadan’s first ten days, no concrete action has been taken to curb the rampant profiteering, leaving the public to suffer.
