UK’s Windsor Castle Hosts First-Ever Iftar Party in Historic Move

London:A historic moment unfolded in the United Kingdom as King Charles’ residence, Windsor Castle, hosted its first-ever Iftar party, marking a significant event in British history.

According to reports from the BBC, for the first time in the 1,000-year history of Windsor Castle, an Iftar was held, and the sound of the Adhan (Islamic call to prayer) echoed through its halls. The Iftar took place at the St. George’s Hall, a venue traditionally reserved for heads of state and royal banquets, where over 350 individuals from both the Muslim and local communities gathered to observe the special occasion.

During the Iftar, dates were served to those fasting, followed by a special prayer, after which a meal was provided. The main purpose of the Iftar was to raise awareness among non-Muslims about Islam and the significance of Ramadan.

Organizers highlighted that King Charles has been a champion of interfaith harmony and this event further reinforced his efforts in promoting religious understanding and unity.

Additionally, earlier in the week, an Iftar dinner was held by the House of Commons, where for the first time, the British Prime Minister attended. The evening included a Quranic recitation and discussions on the importance of Ramadan, further underscoring the UK’s growing recognition and respect for Islamic traditions.
