CTD Registers Another Case Over Karachi Airport Suicide Attack; Key BLA Commanders Named
Karachi:The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has registered another case in connection with the suicide bombing near Karachi Airport. CTD sources confirmed that the case was filed at the CTD police station, naming prominent commanders of the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) as suspects.
Among the named suspects is **Bashir Ahmed Baloch**, also known as **Bashir Zeb**, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the attack. The case also includes **Abdul Rahman**, alias **Rahman Gul**, along with a private bank officer and an account holder from the Hub Checkpost, who have also been designated as key suspects in the attack.
The charges in the case include terrorism, terror financing, possession of explosive materials, murder, and other related offenses.
The suicide bombing, which took place in the first week of October 2024 near Karachi Airport’s signal area, resulted in the deaths of **two Chinese nationals** and one other person, while **17 individuals**, including Rangers personnel, were injured.
Investigative sources revealed that a small car was used in the attack. The suicide bomber, who was a foreign national, had been waiting for a convoy of foreign nationals to pass by. As the convoy approached, the bomber rammed his vehicle into one of the foreign cars. It is believed that the car contained explosives, which led to a powerful blast, completely destroying the vehicle.
The CTD has launched a detailed investigation into the incident, with security agencies continuing their efforts to track down those responsible for the attack.
