Adding Insult to Injury for PG Doctors Deprived of Salaries for 4 Months; YDA Gives 7-Day Ultimatum Against Deductions in the Name of a Defunct App
Health Department Threw the Chief Minister's Promise in the Trash; If Salaries Are Not Restored, There Will Be a Complete Boycott of Hospitals: Spokesman

QUETTA (Daily Qudrat Quetta): The Young Doctors Association (YDA) spokesman has said in a statement that the healthcare system of all major government hospitals in Balochistan depends day and night on Postgraduate Trainee Doctors (PGRs); however, the tragic irony is that these trainee doctors have been kept deprived of salaries for the past four months.
He said that the promise made by the Chief Minister of Balochistan regarding pay regularisation of PGs has been thrown into the trash by the Health Department, and pay regularisation has not been possible so far. On the other hand, adding salt to the doctors’ wounds after four months, PGMI has issued a cruel notification of deductions in salaries.
He said that during the past three to four months, we have repeatedly submitted written applications and evidence to PGMI and the Health Department that their mobile attendance app is technically failed. The software company that built the app, the PGMI administration and Health Department officials have themselves formally acknowledged that there are serious faults within the app and that attendance is not marked on a daily basis.
He said that when the administration and developers themselves admit that the fault is in the app’s system, then why are PGs being punished for this failed app? What justification is there for deducting their salaries? This is blatant bullying, blackmailing and a malicious attempt to dump the burden of their own failed system on doctors.
He said that if the Health Department does not immediately resolve the issue of the PGs’ salaries for the past four months within the next one week (7 days), if there is no progress on pay regularisation and this cruel decision of deduction is not withdrawn, then we will move toward the most severe and strictest reaction. After that, the entire moral and legal responsibility for any crisis, protest or boycott arising in hospitals will rest with the stubborn officials of the Health Department.
