Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani Has Shown That Posts, Jobs and Salaries Do Not Last Forever: Sher Afzal Marwat

ISLAMABAD (Daily Qudrat): MNA Sher Afzal Khan Marwat has said that Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani has shown that posts, jobs and salaries do not last forever; a person writes history through his deeds. Alas! People with conscience are departing.
Reacting to Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani’s resignation, MNA Sher Afzal Khan Marwat said that Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani has been my friend; we practised together.
Justice Akhtar Kayani has shown that posts, jobs and salaries do not last forever, but a person writes history through his deeds. Alas, today principled and conscientious people are gradually departing. Mohsin Akhtar Kayani should have been the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court.

This judge should have been made Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court — on what basis did the Judicial Commission make a judge with 16 [seniority] number the Chief Justice here? There are good judges among the new judges, and there are expectations from them that the system will move in a better direction.
It may be recalled that Lahore High Court judge Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani has resigned. According to the text of the resignation, he resigned on personal grounds, health issues and the voice of conscience. During his judicial career he decided more than 23,000 cases. The 26th and 27th constitutional amendments affected the independence of the high courts and institutional autonomy. Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani said that public confidence in judicial independence and the process of justice has been severely damaged, litigants’ difficulties are increasing, and those seeking justice are being ignored.
In his resignation, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani wrote that his conscience does not permit him to continue duties as a judge under the present circumstances; he will return to advocacy to protect the people’s rights and to highlight legal awareness. It may be noted that Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani was appointed a judge of the Islamabad High Court on 23 December 2015, and in April this year Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani was transferred from the Islamabad High Court to the Lahore High Court.
