Court Cancels Asad Qaiser’s Arrest Warrants, Grants Interim Bail in Sangjani Protest Case

ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad district and sessions court has cancelled the arrest warrants for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser in a PTI protest case, while an anti-terrorism court has granted him interim bail in the Sangjani protest case until November 7.
Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Azhar Nadeem cancelled the arrest warrants issued against Qaiser over his non-appearance in court. Qaiser appeared before the court accompanied by his lawyer, Ayesha Khalid.
The trial in the PTI protest case remains pending before the judicial magistrate.
Separately, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) granted Qaiser interim bail in the Sangjani protest case until November 7 and restrained authorities from arresting him in connection with the case.
ATC Judge Abul Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain heard the bail application and issued a notice to the government, directing it to submit the case record.
The court adjourned further proceedings until November 7.
The ATC had previously cancelled Qaiser’s bail after he failed to appear at an earlier hearing.
