Big News! Trade Routes with Pakistan and Iran Suddenly Closed: Hamid Mir

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily): According to senior journalist Hamid Mir, trade routes with Pakistan and Iran have suddenly been closed. Due to the closure, thousands of containers are stranded at the Gabd-Rimdan border, and the greatest loss will be suffered by Gwadar Port. In a post on X, he said that trade routes between Afghanistan and Pakistan were already closed, and now trade routes with Iran have also been suddenly closed. Due to this closure, thousands of containers are stranded at the Gabd-Rimdan border alone. The greatest loss from this closure will be to Gwadar Port, which is only 87 kilometers from Gabd and had gained importance after tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

“Now gas prices in Pakistan will rise because a significant amount of LNG was coming from Iran. The commotion that has erupted in Gwadar due to the closure of these trade routes has reached me, but when will it reach the rulers in Islamabad?” Hamid Mir shared his column published in Daily Jang on X. According to an excerpt from the column, this is news that has spread concern in Pakistan and Iran and provided an opportunity for the enemies of both countries to rejoice.

On October 18, the newspapers published this disturbing news that Pakistan has temporarily closed the Gabd-Rimdan border.

Gabd is an area of Pakistani Balochistan and Rimdan is an area of Iranian Balochistan. This corridor is only 87 kilometers from Pakistan’s Gwadar Port. A few months ago, when trade through the Strait of Hormuz was affected due to tensions between Iran and the US, traffic at Gwadar Port suddenly increased.

Along with the increase in Gwadar’s importance, trade between Pakistan and Iran also began through the Gabd and Rimdan route. Iranian companies and traders began having their goods brought to Gwadar, from where their goods would reach Iran in two hours. Another reason for the increase in traffic on the Gabd-Rimdan corridor was that this corridor was safer than the Taftan-Zahedan border. But now the spokesperson of the Balochistan government has said that the reason for closing the Gabd-Rimdan corridor is the deteriorating law and order situation and smuggling.
