Emergency in KP Is Tantamount to Breaking the Federation; There Is Fear This Chain Will Now Spread Across the Entire Country: Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch

Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta) — During a session of the Balochistan Provincial Assembly, National Party chief and former Chief Minister Balochistan Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch expressed a strong reaction to the move to impose emergency and governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and condemned it in the strongest possible terms. Expressing his views in the House, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch said that not only Articles 232 and 234 are included in the Constitution of Pakistan, but Article 1 also exists, and respecting it is essential. He said that we are all pleased that democracy is established in the country, but such decisions against democratic institutions lead to weakening democracy.
Referring to the historical background, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch said that the chain of unrest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa began during the era of the Afghan revolution, and at that time the alignment was done by our own so-called “Tram Khanas,” the consequences of which the nation is still bearing today. Expressing regret, he said that today Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is being distanced from its federation, and he has serious fear that this chain will not remain limited to KP alone. He revealed that he had information that emergency was first going to be imposed in Balochistan, and now there is apprehension that emergency could be imposed across the entire country, because unfortunately the people have been deprived of their real powers.
