We Should Only Discuss Terrorism, Not Your Failures? Maulana Fazlur Rehman

Peshawar (Qudrat Daily): Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that we will continue our struggle against this emergency and will not bow before such an unconstitutional move under any circumstances. We should only discuss terrorism, not your failures? If you want to impose emergency, impose it in the federation—that is an illegitimate government, a fake government, brought into existence by the will of the establishment. There is no accountability for your failures, but the narrative must be according to your wishes, even if the country is destroyed, even if the Constitution is destroyed. What kind of logic is this?

According to details, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, while addressing a press conference, termed the imposition of Governor’s Rule and emergency by the federal government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a robbery and night attack on the people’s rights, strongly rejected it, and announced that there will be full resistance against this unconstitutional move at the public, parliamentary, and judicial levels. We are not prepared to bow down for even a moment and do not accept this unconstitutional move at all. We will establish direct contact with the people and will also play our full role inside Parliament.
He said that whatever path of negotiations was cut off was cut off by the government. These so-called unknown people—we know them all. Ask Shehbaz Sharif how much authority he had in the negotiations. Muslim League-N and Peoples Party people are killers of democracy. During talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, when it came to light that the government wanted the long march to be ended first, PTI’s position on this matter was that Imran Khan should be allowed a meeting and the judicial decision regarding his transfer to hospital should be implemented. Both sides were demanding that the other take the first step.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman disclosed that I sought the authority of mediation from both sides and, through a conference call, took PTI’s top leadership, including Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi, Barrister Gohar, and Asad Qaiser, into confidence. When Sohail Afridi was asked whether the long march would be ended if the demands were accepted, the Chief Minister expressed agreement. This morning, I went to the Prime Minister’s House and informed them that PTI is ready to end the long march provided the promise of a meeting with Imran Khan and treatment facilities is fulfilled. The Prime Minister said a cabinet meeting could be held in the evening.
He complained that my intention was to go to Peshawar and meet Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and other leaders, and to have two leaders each from Muslim League-N and PTI sit together and settle matters under my supervision. But meanwhile, during the cabinet meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar called and informed me that the government wants to impose emergency in view of terrorism.
The JUI chief disclosed that I asked Ishaq Dar a pointed question: if the matter is about terrorism, then the situation in Balochistan is even worse than in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, so why was Governor’s Rule or emergency not imposed there? I further told him that we opposed the American war even after 9/11, but such discriminatory and coercive decisions are unacceptable.
