Section 144 Imposed in Balochistan, Prohibiting Gatherings and Protests

Quetta:The Balochistan government has imposed Section 144 across the province, effectively banning all protests, rallies, and gatherings in the region. The decision comes in response to security concerns and is aimed at maintaining peace and order.

According to the Balochistan Home Department, the new restrictions also extend to gatherings of more than four individuals and the display of weapons. The ban will remain in effect for 15 days, and violators could face legal consequences under the relevant provisions of Section 144.

The government’s decision follows similar measures taken by the Punjab government, which had previously enforced Section 144 for three days to curb public gatherings and protests. A notification regarding the ban on protests, public meetings, rallies, and sit-ins has already been issued in Balochistan.

This move highlights ongoing concerns about public safety and law and order in the face of rising political tensions and protest calls in various parts of Pakistan. The imposition of Section 144 is seen as a preventive measure to control any unrest and ensure the security of citizens and property in the province.
