Man Arrested for Defrauding Rs27.5 Million in Fake Italy Work Visa Scam

RAWALPINDI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Rawalpindi has arrested a man allegedly involved in defrauding a citizen of millions of rupees by promising an Italy work visa.
The accused, identified as Raja Wajahat Iqbal, was arrested during an operation conducted by the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Rawalpindi.
A case, registered as FIR No. 693/26 dated September 30, 2026, has been registered against the accused at the FIA AHTC Rawalpindi.
According to the FIA, the accused allegedly received Rs2.75 million from the complainant after promising to arrange an Italian work visa for the complainant’s daughter. However, he allegedly neither provided the visa nor returned the money, causing financial loss to the complainant.
The arrest was carried out under the supervision of Investigation Officer Sub-Inspector Zafar Iqbal. Further investigation is underway, while other aspects of the case are also being examined.
FIA Islamabad Zone Director Shehzad Nadeem Bukhari said the agency was continuing indiscriminate action against elements involved in human trafficking and visa fraud.
He advised citizens seeking employment or visas abroad to use only legal and authentic channels and avoid dealing with unauthorized agents.
