Balochistan Opposition MPA Zabad Reki Protests Being Stopped at Airport, Labeled Terrorist

QUETTA: Balochistan Assembly opposition member Zabad Reki has strongly protested after he was allegedly stopped at the airport while travelling to Madinah and was labeled a terrorist by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
Speaking on a point of order during the ongoing session of the Balochistan Assembly, Reki said FIA officials stopped him at the airport when he arrived to travel to Madinah.
He said that upon making inquiries, he learned that Additional Home Secretary Hamza Shafqat had allegedly blocked his passport and that his name had been placed on the Exit Control List (ECL) and Passport Control List (PCL).
Reki further alleged that he contacted Additional Home Secretary Hamza Shafqat over the matter, but the official did not even answer his calls.
Expressing his anger in the assembly, the opposition MPA said, “I do not know what sin I have committed. I have always spoken only for the rights of the province and its people.”
He said the situation was particularly distressing because when he travelled to his constituency in Washuk, terrorists pursued them, while upon coming to the provincial capital Quetta, they themselves were being labeled as terrorists.
Reki demanded clarification over which banned organization he was allegedly associated with. He said declaring an elected public representative a terrorist had violated his parliamentary privilege.
“If there is any evidence against me, it should be brought before the house,” Reki demanded, urging the assembly to summon Additional Home Secretary Hamza Shafqat and seek evidence and an explanation for the action taken against him.
