Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party to Hold Zhob Rally on October 7 to Honour Democracy, National Martyrs

QUETTA: The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) will hold a central public rally in Zhob on October 7 to pay tribute to the martyrs of democracy and the country, the party said in a statement.

The public gathering will be held at Baz Muhammad Shaheed Park in Zhob city at 10am on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. PkMAP Chairman and Milli leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai, along with other central, provincial and district leaders, will address the gathering.

The party has appealed to all democratic-minded and patriotic citizens of Zhob and Sherani districts to participate in the rally.

According to the PkMAP statement, the gathering is being organised to commemorate the martyrs who lost their lives in democratic struggles against prolonged martial law and authoritarian rule.

The party recalled that on October 7, 1983, a protest was held in Quetta in support of victims of the September 3, 1983 tragedy in Sindh during the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy (MRD). Firing on the protest resulted in the deaths of four PkMAP workers and injuries to dozens of others. Several party leaders and workers were subsequently detained, while Mahmood Khan Achakzai remained underground for six and a half years, according to the statement.

The party also recalled the killing of five of its leaders and workers in Quetta on October 11, 1991.

The statement said the Zhob rally would pay tribute to democracy martyrs Kaka Mahmood Shaheed, Olas Yar Shaheed, Dawood Shaheed and Ramazan Shaheed, as well as national martyrs Abdul Rahim Kilewal Shaheed, Sabir Shah Shaheed, Baz Muhammad Baz Shaheed, Habib-ur-Rehman Shaheed and Sahib Khan Shaheed.

The PkMAP said Pakistan had been plunged into multidimensional crises due to serious mistakes, miscalculations and authoritarian approaches in the past.

The party alleged that state institutions had become paralysed, judicial independence had been undermined, media freedom restricted and constitutional and fundamental rights weakened. It also criticised rising inflation, unemployment, political instability, insecurity and what it described as increasing incidents of violence, robbery and enforced disappearances.

According to the statement, Pakistan had also faced growing isolation internationally, while its standing in international assessments relating to corruption, judicial systems and governance had continued to decline.

The party further claimed that the country had accumulated a substantial amount of debt during the past two and a half years and that deterioration was continuing across state institutions.

PkMAP said its public rally, along with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s long march, would prove to be a milestone in efforts to overcome the country’s crises, end terrorism, violence, corruption, unemployment and inflation, restore the Constitution and democratic rule, ensure parliamentary supremacy and establish Pakistan as a genuinely democratic federation of its constituent nations.

The party also called for all state institutions to operate within their constitutional mandates and for an end to what it described as “state-sponsored proxies.”

In its concluding appeal, PkMAP urged patriotic and democratic-minded people of Zhob and Sherani districts to attend the October 7 public gathering in large numbers.
