Pakistan Plans Three LNG Cargoes from Qatar Amid Hormuz Supply Uncertainty

ISLAMABAD: Amid growing uncertainty over energy supplies through the Strait of Hormuz, the government has decided to secure three LNG cargoes from Qatar during October.

The government is also preparing to contact Iranian authorities to ensure the safe passage of LNG vessels carrying the shipments to Pakistan.

The development comes as QatarEnergy has extended the force majeure period on LNG supplies to Pakistan until November 4.

Officials fear that the disruption in LNG supplies could persist through the winter season, potentially creating further challenges for the country’s energy sector.

The government is closely monitoring the situation and exploring measures to ensure uninterrupted LNG supplies amid uncertainty surrounding shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz.
