Government Negotiation Team Told Us There Were Four to Five Weeks When Imran Khan’s Blood Pressure Rose Extremely High: Salman Akram Raja

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily): PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has said that the government’s negotiation team told us that there were four to five weeks when Imran Khan’s blood pressure rose extremely high; despite giving various medicines, the blood pressure was not returning to normal, so a specialist doctor was then called from London.

Speaking during a news conference, he said that until personal physicians are included in Imran Khan’s care, we will never abandon this demand; we will not believe anything, we will not accept it. We were told that day that there were five weeks when Imran Khan’s blood pressure had risen to an extremely high level and was not coming down despite medicines. We were told this during negotiations that day—that we are telling you that three to four weeks were extremely worrisome.

Despite giving various medicines, Imran Khan’s blood pressure was not improving. Then a specialist doctor was called from London, and after the doctor’s treatment, Imran Khan’s blood pressure began to recover. This was told to us by the negotiation team itself. This is something that should not have remained hidden, but it remained hidden only because Imran Khan was not being allowed meetings with his sisters, lawyers, or personal physicians—therefore, the matter of personal physicians is the fundamental issue.

Salman Akram Raja said that the government’s ministers are saying unimportant things regarding the negotiations. Two rounds of negotiations took place, both of which ended without result. On the first day of negotiations, after the meeting, we went to Peshawar, where our negotiation committee met with the Chief Minister and cabinet and took a briefing on the issue of terrorism.

He said that we had two major demands: first, that a meeting with the PTI founder be arranged, as PTI will not make any decision without the founder; and second, the deadlock that arose in the negotiations concerned the elimination of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. We said that the jirga of political parties should be heard, and rejecting it would not be wisdom.

The PTI Secretary General said that today we will show the documents of the peace jirga, which bear the signatures of the Muslim League (N), ANP, and other parties. We moved forward on every draft one by one. Mohsin Naqvi left the meeting and went outside many times. By 8 p.m., we had agreed on several points, but then at 2 a.m. we did not agree on the matter of physicians. The matter of the 72 hours was also discussed.
