Pakistan Raises Petrol and Diesel Prices Again Under Daily Pricing Mechanism

Islamabad: The federal government has announced another increase in the prices of petroleum products under Pakistan’s newly introduced daily fuel pricing system.

According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs6.39 per litre, taking the new price to Rs327.12 per litre.

The price of high-speed diesel has been raised by Rs7.83 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs375.04 per litre.

The revised prices will take effect from 12:00 a.m. and will remain valid for one day, in line with the government’s daily fuel pricing policy.

Under the new mechanism approved by the federal cabinet, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is responsible for announcing the ex-depot prices of petrol and diesel on a daily basis.

The daily prices are calculated using the average international oil prices over the previous seven business days. Under this system, OGRA can announce revised fuel prices without requiring prior approval from the Prime Minister or the federal government.

The government says the new pricing mechanism is intended to align domestic fuel prices more closely with fluctuations in the global oil market.
