Robbers Roam Free in Streets, Drug Dens Operating Openly; Administration Has Become a Silent Spectator: JUI Quetta

City at the mercy of criminal elements; protest peace rally announced for 9 October against government negligence and inattention

Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta): Ameer of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam District Quetta Sheikh-ul-Hadith Maulana Abdul Rahman Rafiq, Secretary General Haji Ainullah Shams, Senior Deputy Ameer Maulana Khurshid Ahmed, Finance Secretary Haji Saleh Muhammad, Seth Ajmal Bazai, Mir Hishmat Lahri, Mufti Raza Khan, Haji Zafarullah Kakar, Mir Sarfaraz Shahwani, Salar Maulana Ali Jan, Maulana Syed Saadullah Agha, and Maulana Naqeebullah Mallakhail have said that a full-fledged protest rally will be taken out on 9 October against the continuously deteriorating law and order situation in Quetta, rising crimes, and the lack of protection for the lives and property of the people. In this connection, a grand peace rally will be taken out from Jinnah Road at 3 p.m. on 9 October. The people should participate in the rally in large numbers.

They said that the people of Quetta cannot be left at the mercy of criminal elements. Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam stands with the people in their sorrow and pain and will not leave them alone under any circumstances. The continuous increase in theft, robbery, murder and mayhem, drug trafficking, obscenity and indecency, and other crimes in the city has created severe fear and anxiety among the citizens.

They said that government inattention, administrative negligence, and the absence of practical action have made the situation more serious. The free movement of criminal elements in the streets and alleys is a big question mark over the state’s writ and the rule of law. Do the government and administration not see the dens of drug trafficking and other crimes? If all this is happening before the eyes of government and administrative institutions, then why is action not being taken? It is unacceptable under any circumstances that crime centers remain openly established in Quetta and the administration remains a silent spectator.

They said that instead of merely satisfying the people with statements and claims, the government and administration should take indiscriminate and immediate action against criminal elements. The protection of the lives and property of the people is the basic responsibility of the state and the administration, and negligence in this regard cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.

They warned that if practical steps are not taken for the establishment of law and order and the protection of the people, the scope of the protest will be further widened. They demanded that an immediate crackdown be launched against all crime centers in Quetta, drug dealers and other criminal elements be brought under the grip of the law, protection be provided to citizens, and solid and result-oriented measures be taken to make Quetta a cradle of peace in the true sense instead of a haven for crimes.
