Two Pakistani Civilians Killed in Alleged BSF Firing Near Kasur Border

RAWALPINDI: Two Pakistani civilians were killed and another was injured after Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel allegedly opened fire near the Pakistan-India international border in Kasur, according to Pakistani security sources.

The incident reportedly occurred when three local residents from Ladhar village moved a few steps beyond a border pillar. Security sources said the BSF personnel opened fire on them without warning.

The sources said all three men were unarmed and none of them had attempted to cross the border fence.

The deceased were identified as Azmat Rasool, son of Ataullah, and Mohsin Jutt, both residents of Jattan Wali Haveli in Ladhar. The third man sustained injuries in the firing, according to the sources.

Pakistani security sources described the incident as unprovoked firing and said it constituted a violation of arrangements and standard operating procedures governing the international border.

Meanwhile, Indian media reports described the three Pakistani civilians as infiltrators. Pakistani security sources rejected the characterization, maintaining that none of the men had attempted to cross the border fence.
