Khawaja Saad Rafique’s Cryptic Post Draws Attention on Social Media

Lahore: Former federal minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique has shared a thought-provoking post about basic Urdu education, which has drawn attention on social media.

In a post on his X account, Saad Rafique wrote: “Larte Larte Ho Gaye Gum, Aik Ki Chonch Aur Aik Ki Dum” (“Fighting and fighting, they disappeared; one lost its beak and the other its tail”).

He said the line was from one of the short stories in the Urdu primer taught in the first grade of primary school.

“Many people, after growing up, no longer remember even the basics of the Urdu primer,” he added.

Saad Rafique’s post has since attracted attention on social media as a nostalgic reference to basic Urdu education and the early school curriculum.
