Viral Claim of Two Policemen Assaulting Serving SP in Attock Turns Out to Be Fake
ATTOCK: A viral social media report claiming that two police constables were arrested for sexually assaulting a serving Superintendent of Police (SP) in Attock has been found to be fabricated, according to the Punjab Police spokesperson.
A news report and an alleged FIR, numbered 248/2026, had been circulating widely on social media over the past few days. The posts claimed that Attock City Police had arrested two constables over alleged sexual misconduct involving an SP.
However, after fact-checking and technical verification, the claims were found to be false. The Punjab Police spokesperson formally denied the report and clarified that no such incident had taken place.
According to judicial records, the actual case registered as FIR No. 248/2026 in Attock was related to theft under Section 381 and had already been disposed of by Judge Abdul Khan on May 21, 2026.

In contrast, the fake FIR circulating on social media carried the date September 24, 2026, and contained sections relating to sexual offences. Investigators found that the document had allegedly been digitally fabricated using computer software.
The investigation also revealed that the photograph circulated with the fake report as that of the alleged SP actually belonged to a proclaimed offender identified as Muhammad Arbaz Khan.
According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, Arbaz Khan had allegedly posed as a police officer to defraud people and harass women. Bhakkar Police arrested him in July 2025.
Police records reportedly show that 15 cases involving fraud and impersonation of a police officer have been registered against him at various police stations in Lahore, Vehari, Sahiwal, Sargodha and Toba Tek Singh. He has reportedly been arrested 10 times.
Punjab Police urged citizens to verify sensational claims circulating on social media through official sources and avoid spreading unverified information.
