CM Sohail Afridi Will Be First Accused of Contempt If IHC Order Violated: Talal Chaudhry

ISLAMABAD:State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry has said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi would be the first person accused of contempt of court if the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) order is violated.
Speaking on Geo News programme *Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath*, Talal Chaudhry said negotiations, reconciliation and political aspirations were separate matters, while an “NRO 2” was an entirely different issue.
He said the government had never backed away from dialogue, adding that the prime minister’s committee was in place and the Speaker’s Office was also available for negotiations. However, he said, the government could not provide an NRO.
The state minister claimed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister was not fighting for the PTI founder but was instead trying to protect his own position.
He reiterated that if the Islamabad High Court’s order was violated, CM Sohail Afridi would be the first accused in a contempt of court case.
Talal Chaudhry also announced that he would hold a press conference on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Act, alleging that the provincial government wanted to subordinate the police force to the ruling setup through what he described as an unusual piece of legislation.
