Power Struggle and Personal Interests Have Entangled the Constitution in a Whirlpool of Personal Authority: JUI

Quetta: The leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) District Quetta have said that forces intoxicated with power have hollowed out the foundations of the state, while the mandate of the people and the sovereignty of Parliament are being trampled upon. They stated that political uncertainty, inflation, and unemployment have made people’s lives miserable, and demanded that all state institutions remain within their constitutional limits.

According to a statement issued by JUI District Quetta, Amir Sheikh-ul-Hadith Maulana Abdul Rehman Rafiq, District General Secretary Haji Ainullah Shams, Senior Deputy Amir Maulana Khurshid Ahmed, Information Secretary Abdul Ghani Shehzad, Abdul Samad Haqyar, Mufti Muhammad Abubakar, Abdul Bari Shehzad, Akhtar Jan Marri, Maulana Jamaluddin Haqqani, Mufti Rashid Ahmed Haqqani, and Haji Ata Muhammad Shamshozai said that forces intoxicated with power have isolated the country in every respect and hollowed out the foundations of the state, while the traders of democracy have entangled the Constitution in a whirlpool of personal authority for their personal and political interests.

They said that the supremacy of the Constitution and law, the sovereignty of Parliament, and the protection of the basic rights of the people are the spirit of the democratic system, but unfortunately, constitutional principles are being continuously ignored in the power struggle, which has affected the people’s trust in state institutions and further deepened the political and economic crisis.

The JUI District Quetta leaders said that the country is not the estate of any individual, family, or specific group but a trust of millions of people, therefore state affairs should be run according to the Constitution and the people’s mandate should be respected. They said that political parties must prioritize national interest, adherence to the Constitution, and the protection of democratic values over temporary interests; otherwise, the effects of political uncertainty and unrest in the country will become more serious.

The leaders demanded that all institutions fulfill their responsibilities while remaining within their constitutional limits, and that serious and practical steps be taken to resolve the problems of inflation, unemployment, unrest, and basic facilities faced by the people.
