Two Policemen Martyred in Nushki Attack on Polio Team Security, CM Seeks Report

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has sought a report from the Balochistan Home Department following the martyrdom of two police personnel who were deployed to provide security to an anti-polio team in Nushki.

According to a statement issued in Quetta, unidentified armed assailants opened fire on police personnel deployed for the security of an anti-polio team in the Killi Jamalabad area of Nushki, resulting in the deaths of two policemen.

Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti expressed deep sorrow and grief over the incident and strongly condemned the targeting of personnel assigned to protect polio vaccination teams.

He said the martyred policemen had sacrificed their lives while performing their duties and that their services and sacrifices were highly valued.

The chief minister expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased policemen, saying the government and people of Balochistan shared the grief of the bereaved families during this difficult time.

Bugti said police personnel had made the ultimate sacrifice while discharging their responsibilities and paid tribute to their courage and dedication.

He said police investigations into the incident were underway to determine its motives and identify those involved. Relevant institutions were examining all aspects of the attack, and further facts would emerge as the investigation progressed.

The chief minister said the anti-polio campaign was a national effort aimed at protecting children from a dangerous disease, making the security of teams associated with the campaign extremely important.

He prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the martyred policemen and for patience and strength for their bereaved families.
