“We Still Have No Knowledge of Where Alima Khan Is or in What Condition”: Noreen Niazi

Lahore (Daily Quudrat) – Following the arrest of Alima Khan, sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, from Lahore, her sister Noreen Niazi and legal team head Advocate Mudassir Umar held a press conference, declaring the action an illegal abduction and a government fear of the September 27 protest. Speaking during the press conference at Zaman Park, Lahore, Alima Khan’s sister Noreen Niazi said that Alima Khan was abducted from the road without any formal legal process, and later they came to know through social media that an MPO order had been issued against her. She said all these cruel measures and arrests are merely out of fear of their proposed September 27 protest march and government pressure.

She made clear that sending Alima Khan to jail will not reduce the public’s anger or the movement, but rather this movement will intensify further. The day of September 27 will prove to be a very big day in the country’s history, and Imran Khan’s entire family and every supporter is part of this public movement. She said the government may arrest whomever it wants to arrest, but all people will come out on the streets on September 27 because Imran Khan has been unjustly imprisoned, and despite his deteriorating health, he is not being transferred to a hospital.

On this occasion, Alima Khan’s lawyer Mudassir Umar said that the administration issued a detention order under 3 MPO against Alima Khan as well as her driver, which clearly proves that this order was prepared after the arrest in a bogus manner with backdated dates. Alima Khan’s car was recovered from Mazang police station, and her bail in all previously registered cases had already been approved.

He revealed that today the SP Civil Lines, in a fabricated report without any evidence or solid reason, declared Alima Khan a threat to law and order, which is a written and mechanical report. We consider this order a slap in the face of the Constitution and law. The legal council should be given immediate access to Alima Khan so that her necessary belongings and medicines can be delivered to her, and the administration should immediately make public where and in what condition Alima Khan is currently being held.
