Government, Petrol Pump Owners Reach Agreement on Fuel Subsidy Scheme

ISLAMABAD:The government and the All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association have successfully concluded negotiations over the fuel subsidy scheme.

Association Vice Chairman Nauman Butt said the concerns of petrol pump owners had been addressed and that the association had no objection to the subsidy scheme itself.

He said the main reservations were related to the mechanism for payment and reimbursement of the subsidy amount. During the talks, the government assured the association that the subsidy amount would be reimbursed within 24 hours.

Nauman Butt said the subsidy payments would be processed through the State Bank of Pakistan and that the funds had already reached the central bank.

He added that if the subsidy amount was not reimbursed within 24 hours, the government would work with the association to resolve the issue.

Meanwhile, according to a statement issued by the Petroleum Division, a special control room has been established to facilitate petrol pumps and address complaints related to the fuel subsidy scheme.

The development comes as the government continues efforts to ensure the smooth implementation of the fuel subsidy programme and prevent disruptions at petrol stations.
