Every Pakistani Stands With Saudi Arabia to Protect Holy Mosques, Says Fazlur Rehman
KARACHI:Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that every Pakistani stands with Saudi Arabia for the protection of the Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah.
Addressing a Khatm-e-Nabuwwat conference in Karachi, Fazlur Rehman said he wanted to convey a message to the Saudi government that Pakistanis would stand by the Kingdom in protecting the Haramain Sharifain.
He said the National Assembly had unanimously declared the Ahmadi and Lahori groups non-Muslim 52 years ago, describing the parliamentary decision as an effort to safeguard what he referred to as Pakistan’s ideological boundaries.
Fazlur Rehman also criticised what he described as the agendas of global powers and Pakistan’s ruling establishment. He said that the lessons and agendas being imposed on the country would not be acceptable to his party, adding that Pakistan faced several challenges and needed to protect both its borders and ideological identity.
Referring to international conflicts, he alleged that thousands of people had been killed in global wars, claimed that the United States had been defeated in Afghanistan, and referred to the deaths of Palestinians. He also criticised Israel and referred to the US attack on Iran and attacks from Yemen towards Saudi Arabia.
“Every Pakistani is with Saudi Arabia for the protection of the Haramain,” Fazlur Rehman said, adding that Pakistani rulers should decide whether they wanted to serve the interests of their own country or those of the United States and Europe.
The JUI-F chief also criticised protests and sit-ins organised by some political groups over inflation. He said such groups hold negotiations with the government, but inflation subsequently increases further.
He claimed that ordinary people were asking political groups to end such sit-ins, saying the public was already facing significant economic difficulties.
His remarks came amid renewed public and political discussion in Pakistan over the security of Saudi Arabia and the protection of the Holy Mosques. A Khatm-e-Nabuwwat conference was also held in Karachi on September 17, with the event focusing on issues related to the finality of Prophethood and related constitutional and legal provisions.
