Balochistan’s Development Drive Irks So-Called Nationalist Sardars, Says Minister Jattak
Quetta — Provincial Minister Haji Ali Madad Jattak has said that Balochistan’s current journey of development and prosperity is unacceptable to so-called nationalist sardars, as historic development projects are moving ahead rapidly across the province.
In a statement, Jattak said work is continuing day and night on the major project to dualize the Chaman–Karachi highway, long known as a “bloody highway.” He said the project would become a milestone for modern travel facilities and for the growth of economic and commercial activity in the province.
He added that under Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, visible progress is being made on the establishment of modern trauma centres across Balochistan, a people’s train service for the public, and green and pink bus services for women.
Criticizing those who, he said, have long done politics in the name of Balochistan, Jattak asked what they had given the province over decades besides corpses, hatred and severe deprivation.
He expressed pride that Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and former caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar had placed pens, rather than guns or stones, in the hands of youth from backward areas of Balochistan. Talented young people from the province, he said, are now being given opportunities to study at leading global institutions, including Oxford, Harvard and Aitchison.
Jattak stressed that work is underway in education, health, road infrastructure, public transport and youth employment. Ordinary citizens, he said, are no longer taken in by empty slogans and negative politics, but are seeing practical steps on the ground. For that reason, he added, Balochistan’s path of development and prosperity cannot be stopped by negative propaganda or conspiracy.
