“Talk of Revolution, Deals in Practice — Resistance by Day and Deals by Night, Yet Still Claiming Revolution”: Sarfaraz Bugti’s Reaction to Akhtar Mengal’s Statement

Quetta (Daily Qudrat): Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, reacting to a tweet by Adviser to the Chief Minister for Information and Political Affairs Shahid Rind regarding Sardar Akhtar Mengal’s alleged use of inappropriate language, has said that those who even today become revolutionaries in the daylight but sit in Karachi in the darkness of night negotiating the Saronah deal and asking for political leniency like 2018 should look at their own political character before being shown the mirror of history.

Mir Sarfaraz Bugti said: “Talk of revolution, but dealings of a deal — resistance by day and a deal by night, yet still claiming revolution.” Highlighting this contradiction in political conduct, he said that the public and history look at practical character rather than political claims.

The Balochistan Chief Minister, concluding his reaction, quoted a well-known verse.

Earlier, Adviser to the Balochistan Chief Minister for Information and Political Affairs Shahid Rind, in his tweet reacting to Sardar Akhtar Mengal’s alleged inappropriate manner of speech, had said that if political forces and political leadership speak in a political manner, then the response will also be given in a political manner — this is political training, democratic conduct, and the etiquette of disagreement.

Shahid Rind had said that if conversation is taken to the level of obscenities and abuse, then history also delivers its verdict. Referring to certain political events and figures of the past, he said that before lecturing on historical figures, one should peek into the mirror of one’s own past.

The Adviser wrote on the social media site X that in Balochistan, state institutions are fighting in the field against terrorism and playing their role for the protection of the lives and property of the people, while according to him, the politics of certain so-called nationalist elements is limited to questioning state action against terrorism and seeking justification for terrorists.

Shahid Rind had said that political disagreement is part of the democratic process; however, on the issue of terrorism, there should be no room for a soft corner for elements standing against the state and the people.

After the reaction of Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti and Shahid Rind’s tweet, the debate in Balochistan’s politics regarding past political figures, deals, and political leniency has once again come to the fore.
