Ministry of IT Issues Registration Procedure for PM Shehbaz’s Special Petrol Relief Scheme

ISLAMABAD (Qudrat Roznama) – The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has issued the registration procedure for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s special petrol relief scheme.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of IT, eligible citizens will be given a concession of Rs100 per litre on petrol under the special scheme. An automated digital system has been prepared with the cooperation of NADRA, telecom operators, and provincial departments. Owners of motorcycles, rickshaws, Chingchi vehicles, and vehicles up to 800cc will be able to avail the special relief.
Under the scheme, motorcycle and Chingchi owners will be provided subsidized petrol up to 20 litres per month, while for owners of 800cc vehicles, this quantity has been fixed at 30 litres per month.
The Ministry of IT said that verification of vehicles will be done automatically through provincial transport and excise departments. For registration, an SMS must be sent in the prescribed format from a SIM issued in one’s own name. The registration message must include the identity card number, vehicle number, provincial code, and registration date. Upon successful registration, citizens will receive a confirmation message on their mobile phones.
The statement further said that before going to the petrol pump, one must send “TOK” to 9771. Subsidized petrol will be provided upon showing the received token. The supply of subsidized petrol in Islamabad will begin from the night between Monday and Tuesday, while across the country it will begin from the night between Wednesday and Thursday.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today, taking notice of rising oil prices in the international market, announced a special relief scheme for the poor and middle class, under which a relief of Rs100 per litre will be given on motorcycles, rickshaws, and small vehicles.
Shehbaz Sharif said that the government fully understands the burden imposed by oil prices, and in this hour of difficulty, we will not leave the people alone.
He said that motorcycle and rickshaw owners will be given a relief of Rs100 per litre on up to 20 litres of petrol per month, while owners of vehicles up to 800cc will receive relief on up to 30 litres of petrol per month.
