Punjab Information Minister Says Maryam Nawaz Will Personally Bear Costs of London Visit

LAHORE:Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will personally bear all expenses related to her London visit, dismissing criticism over the trip as premature propaganda.
In a post on X, Bokhari said she had already stated, in her capacity as information minister, that the chief minister would pay all expenses of the visit herself.
She said Maryam Nawaz had issued clear instructions before leaving for London that she would personally cover the entire cost of the trip.
Bokhari criticized what she described as political opponents and YouTubers for raising questions about the expenses before the visit had even concluded.
She said the total cost could only be calculated after the completion of the visit, following which payment would be made through the proper legal and official procedures.
“Government systems operate according to established rules and procedures. An estimate is prepared and payment is made through a challan,” she said, adding that the process could not be completed instantly before the end of the trip.
The provincial information minister said criticism and what she described as propaganda had begun even before Maryam Nawaz returned to Pakistan.
Taking aim at her political opponents, Bokhari said those who had allegedly wasted billions of rupees of public money in the past were now attempting to present themselves as champions of accountability.
She urged critics to wait, saying they should be prepared to face embarrassment and humiliation once the facts regarding the visit emerged.
