Momina Iqbal, Lawyer Raise Concerns Over NCCIA Clearing PML-N MPA Saqib Chadhar

LAHORE:Renowned actress Momina Iqbal and her lawyer have expressed serious reservations over the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) declaring Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chadhar innocent in the case, raising questions about the impartiality of the investigation agency.

Speaking to the media outside a Lahore sessions court, Momina Iqbal said she had placed her trust in the law but was disappointed by what she described as a sudden change in the investigation without informing her.

“I had closed my eyes and trusted the law, but the NCCIA changed the investigation in collusion without informing us,” she said.

The actress said that from the very beginning, she had demanded that the person facing serious allegations be suspended from his position. “In any democracy, it does not happen that a public representative faces serious allegations and does not step down from office,” she added.

Momina announced that she would bring the evidence before the public through social media if she failed to receive justice through legal channels.

“I was offered compromises and was told that I am married now and should sit back peacefully. I was also told to contact whoever I could manage or ask to make phone calls,” she said.

However, she vowed to pursue the case to the end, saying she would not back down and would approach every available forum.

“If I do not get justice through the law, I will present all the evidence before the public on social media. Then the people themselves will decide,” she said.

Momina added that she was speaking on behalf of women across Pakistan and would continue her legal fight against Saqib Chadhar.

Her lawyer also strongly objected to the sudden change in the investigation. He said the investigation had been altered without bringing the matter to their knowledge, despite the fact that they had submitted no such request.

He recalled that at the previous hearing, an NCCIA official had told the court that the agency required Saqib Chadhar’s arrest.

“However, the statement has suddenly changed today, which is surprising,” the lawyer said.

He further announced that they were challenging the NCCIA report before the Lahore High Court.
