Uzma Bukhari and Falak Javed Exchange Heated Words in Courtroom
LAHORE: A tense situation and heated exchange took place between Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari and accused Falak Javed during the hearing of a fake video case filed by the provincial minister at Lahore District Courts.
The case was heard by Judge Naeem Wattoo. During the proceedings, arguments broke out between Falak Javed’s defence counsel, Mian Ali Ashfaq, and Uzma Bukhari. The minister and the accused also exchanged heated remarks.
At the beginning of the hearing, Falak Javed’s lawyer objected to proceeding with the case until his client was brought before the court. Uzma Bukhari responded by asking him not to act like a dictator and to lower his voice.
The lawyer replied that there was no need for “drama” as it was a court and not a “Form 47 election” where fraud could allegedly take place.
The court subsequently directed jail authorities to produce Falak Javed before the court within 20 minutes.
After Falak Javed was brought to court, another heated exchange took place between her and Uzma Bukhari.

Uzma Bukhari said, “No one should teach me what statement to give. I am a lawyer myself,” while alleging that the accused was receiving special treatment and appeared in court prepared from jail.
Falak Javed responded by accusing Uzma Bukhari of lying and said there was no evidence against her. She also claimed that she had been kept in jail for a year and said she would not remain silent when it came to her dignity.
Judge Naeem Wattoo intervened and expressed displeasure over the heated exchange, directing both sides to remain silent.
The judge remarked that only he had the authority to speak louder than others in the courtroom and said he did not like anyone raising their voice at him.
Later, Uzma Bukhari appeared at the rostrum and recorded her statement as the complainant in the case.
She said that she was not an accused but the complainant and alleged that during the night of July 24-25, 2025, she was checking social media in her room when a fake video carrying her name was being circulated.
She said she checked Falak Javed’s Twitter account, where the video had allegedly been posted, and claimed that it subsequently spread across social media.
Uzma Bukhari described the matter as an issue concerning the dignity of a woman.
After her statement was recorded, Falak Javed’s counsel, Ali Ashfaq, said he would require at least six hours to cross-examine the witness. He also alleged that the case had been delayed for a year.
Judge Naeem Wattoo rejected the allegation that the delay was caused by the courts, saying defence lawyers had sought adjournments and court decisions had also been challenged.
The judge said the court had neither provided any special treatment nor taken any extraordinary action in the case.
The court completed the recording of Uzma Bukhari’s statement and fixed September 12, 2026, for cross-examination.
