Jamaat-e-Islami to Hold Sit-in Near Governor House Against Insecurity, Border and Road Closures
QUETTA: Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan will hold a protest sit-in near the Governor House in Quetta on Saturday, August 29, against deteriorating law and order, terrorism, border and road closures, and rising inflation.
Preparations for the protest have been completed. A meeting chaired by Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan Emir and MPA Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch was held to review arrangements. Provincial General Secretary Murtaza Khan Kakar, Provincial Deputy Emir Zahid Akhtar Baloch, Jamaat-e-Islami Quetta Emir Abdul Naeem Rind and other office-bearers attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch said the party would take to the streets for peace and against insecurity, terrorism, closure of borders and roads, and inflation.
“Our struggle is for the people and to resolve their problems. We have no political agenda or personal or party interests,” he said.
He said Jamaat-e-Islami was carrying out peaceful democratic resistance and protests to address the suffering and difficulties faced by the people and to restore peace.
The JI leader urged the government, state institutions and security forces to provide peace to the people of Balochistan and reopen the borders and roads.
He said the people of Balochistan were facing severe hardship and remained trapped in a cycle of problems, with their lives and property insecure and employment and trade activities disrupted.
He added that public transport, including trucks and coaches, as well as ordinary citizens, were also facing insecurity on the roads.
Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman said Balochistan was suffering under the prevailing circumstances and called on everyone to play their role for peace and against what he described as oppression and injustice.
He appealed to the citizens of Quetta, the business community, youth and shopkeepers to participate in the protest sit-in.
He also directed office-bearers of all Jamaat-e-Islami zones in Quetta to mobilize workers, members, supporters, friends and associates to participate in the sit-in from Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Chowk to Chaman Phatak.
