Sararan Police Station Blast a Continuation of Lawlessness and Terrorism: PKNAP

QUETTA: The Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PKNAP) has described the bombing that destroyed the Sararan Police Station on the Quetta-Chaman main highway as a continuation of the ongoing wave of lawlessness and terrorism in southern Pashtunkhwa.
In a statement issued by the party’s provincial secretariat, PKNAP strongly condemned what it called the government’s anti-Pashtun policies and expressed serious concern over the deteriorating law and order situation across the region.
The party alleged that the provincial and federal governments, along with law-enforcement institutions responsible for maintaining peace, had failed to fulfil their constitutional responsibility to protect the lives and property of the people and government installations in Pashtun-majority areas.
It said that under such circumstances, the “failed and incompetent” governments had no justification to remain in power.
According to the statement, terrorist incidents in Harnai, Ziarat, Duki, Loralai and Hanna Urak in Quetta, along with the brutal killing of coal miners, burning of coal trucks, deaths of civilians and government employees, destruction of construction machinery, and explosions targeting roads, bridges and irrigation dams, had created an alarming situation.
The party said the destruction of the Sararan Police Station and other government buildings through explosions in broad daylight on a major highway, in front of thousands of people, had further aggravated the security situation.
PKNAP said that regardless of which organisation or group was responsible for these anti-Pashtun acts of violence, the primary responsibility for protecting the lives and property of citizens and public and government installations rested with the federal and provincial governments and relevant law-enforcement institutions.
The party maintained that governments which failed to protect their citizens had no right to govern.
It urged the people of Pashtunkhwa and all national and democratic political forces to unite and use their collective strength to ensure the protection of citizens and restore peace in the region.
The party also appealed to political parties, democratic forces and the public to remain united, organised and active in the face of the deteriorating security situation and to launch a joint struggle for the protection of people’s lives, peace, security and fundamental rights.
