One Political Party Has a Temperament of Riots, Another Corruption in the Name of System: Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has criticised her political opponents without naming them, saying that one political party has a temperament of violence and disorder while another is associated with corruption in the name of the system.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology in Lahore, the chief minister said that if these political parties had focused on working for the people like the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), the country would have been progressing today.
She said the entire focus of some political parties remained on the PML-N, whereas they should concentrate on public service, delivery and performance.
In contrast, Maryam Nawaz said, the PML-N’s political approach was based on service and development. She added that any government unable to deliver the people’s rights to their doorstep should be considered unsuccessful.
The chief minister announced the inauguration of Pakistan’s first heart transplant centre at the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology and said work had also begun on a home dialysis programme in Punjab.
She said the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology had become operational and patients from across Pakistan could come there for treatment.
Maryam Nawaz said people in positions of authority had been entrusted with responsibility by Allah to serve the public, adding that it was her duty to make decisions for public welfare on a daily basis.
She said Punjab was providing not only free medical treatment but also free medicines to patients. However, she acknowledged that she was aware of complaints that patients were being charged money at government hospitals.
The chief minister said efforts were underway to further improve the hospital system and ensure better healthcare services for the people.
