Imran Khan Sent Back to Adiala Jail, Hamid Mir Rejects Reports of Political Deal

ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist and analyst Hamid Mir has rejected speculation that PTI founder Imran Khan had reached a political deal, following his transfer to hospital for a medical examination and subsequent return to Adiala Jail.

Imran Khan was shifted from Adiala Jail for a medical examination and was later transferred back to the prison under tight security early on August 21. He was subsequently taken to his cell.

Commenting on the development in a post on X, Hamid Mir said those who had claimed that Imran Khan had struck a deal had been proven wrong.

According to Mir, Imran Khan was brought from jail to the hospital, medically examined and then sent back to prison, indicating that there was no evidence of any political deal behind his hospital transfer.

Mir said the government had taken a “bitter pill” to avoid contempt of court proceedings by complying with the court’s directions regarding Imran Khan’s medical examination.

However, he added that despite the development, there appeared to be no signs of improvement in relations between the government and the opposition.

He said speculation linking Imran Khan’s hospital transfer to a political deal had not proved correct, as the PTI founder was returned to Adiala Jail after undergoing his medical examination.
