PTI Protests Over Imran Khan’s Transfer to PIMS, Barrister Gohar Says ‘Perhaps We Will No Longer Be Part of This Assembly’

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has protested the decision to take PTI founder Imran Khan to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) instead of Shifa International Hospital, saying the party may soon decide to leave the National Assembly.

Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, Barrister Gohar said, “Perhaps after a few days, we may no longer be part of this assembly. Congratulations on your style of democracy.”

He said some forces did not want PTI to remain in Parliament, making it difficult for the party to continue as part of the House.

“Perhaps you also do not want us to remain part of this system. Therefore, we will make a decision in the coming days,” he said.

Barrister Gohar described Defence Minister Khawaja Asif as a senior politician and said PTI would accept whatever decision was taken. He urged the government to consider the issues raised by the opposition if democracy was to be protected.

The PTI chairman said the party had asked its supporters and voters not to go to Shifa International Hospital. He added that they had also urged supporters to respect the Supreme Court’s order and refrain from making videos or doing anything that could affect Imran Khan’s medical treatment.

However, he questioned who had suddenly taken Imran Khan to another hospital during the night.

“There are people who want to sabotage this process,” Barrister Gohar said, asking who had taken Imran Khan to the “wrong hospital” and who had brought him back within an hour.

He alleged that certain individuals were deliberately attempting to sabotage the process surrounding Imran Khan’s medical treatment.
