‘Someone Does Not Want Problems to Be Resolved,’ Says PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has said that “someone does not want the problems to be resolved,” expressing disappointment over the circumstances surrounding the medical examination of PTI founder Imran Khan.
Speaking to media representatives regarding Imran Khan’s medical examination, Barrister Gohar said what happened was a major misfortune and something that had not been expected.
He said the Supreme Court’s decision was absolutely clear. “If there was any ambiguity in the Supreme Court’s decision, a review could have been sought,” he said, adding that shifting the PTI founder to a hospital and keeping him there was mandatory under the court’s order.
Barrister Gohar said political issues should be resolved through political means. He added that he had not expected Imran Khan to be taken to any hospital other than the one specified.
It may be recalled that Imran Khan was transferred back to Adiala Jail from hospital early Friday morning. He was initially supposed to be taken to Shifa International Hospital under a court order; however, Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar said in a social media post that Imran Khan was taken to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) instead, where he underwent a medical examination.
According to Attaullah Tarar, Imran Khan was taken to the hospital between the night of August 20 and 21, 2026, under appropriate security arrangements in light of the Supreme Court’s decision. A team of qualified doctors, including an ophthalmologist, cardiologist and physician, conducted a detailed medical examination.
The minister said the medical team declared Imran Khan medically fit after the examination. His sister, Uzma Khan, remained present throughout the medical examination and treatment process.
After completion of all medical procedures, Imran Khan was transferred back to Adiala Jail at around 5 a.m. on August 21, 2026.
In another post, Tarar clarified that the medical examination was conducted at PIMS and doctors from Shifa International Hospital were also present.
He said Imran Khan was taken to PIMS instead of Shifa International Hospital due to the security situation created by PTI workers on the route to and outside the hospital. According to the medical examination, Imran Khan was found to be in good health.
Tarar added that Imran Khan had previously been provided medical facilities whenever required and would continue to receive necessary medical treatment in the future.
