Sharp Rise in Flour and Vegetable Prices Hits Quetta

QUETTA (Daily Qudrat Quetta): A sharp increase in the prices of vegetables, flour and other essential food items has added to the difficulties of citizens in Quetta, with residents complaining that soaring inflation has severely disrupted household budgets.

Prices of tomatoes, potatoes, onions, okra, bitter gourd, ridge gourd, green chilies, coriander, sugar, flour and pulses have reportedly risen significantly in different areas of the provincial capital.

Citizens said the continuous increase in vegetable and food prices had made it increasingly difficult for low-income and middle-class families to afford even basic necessities. They complained that the rising cost of vegetables was putting additional pressure on household expenses and making it difficult for families to manage two meals a day.

Residents also expressed concern over the alleged lack of effective action by the local administration to control prices and prevent profiteering.

They urged the provincial government and local administration to take immediate and effective measures to control inflation, ensure the availability of essential commodities at reasonable prices, and provide relief to poor and middle-class families.
