Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Agree to Expand Cooperation in Four Key Food Sectors
Focus on Meat, Rice, Processed Food and Animal Feed; Saudi Agriculture Minister to Visit Pakistan Soon
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to enhance cooperation in four key food sectors, with a particular focus on increasing exports of meat, rice, processed food and animal feed.
According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the decision was taken during an important review meeting on promoting Pakistan-Saudi agricultural trade, chaired by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Secretary Commerce, Secretary Food Security, Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Ahad Cheema said Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Al-Fadley would visit Pakistan soon.
He said the Saudi minister’s visit would provide a major boost to agricultural trade and joint investment between the two countries.
The meeting was informed that the Saudi delegation would visit the National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC), where it would receive a briefing on various aspects of agricultural research in Pakistan.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have decided to focus particularly on expanding exports in the four food-related sectors of meat, rice, processed food and animal feed.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening bilateral agricultural trade, exploring investment opportunities and expanding Pakistan’s access to the Saudi food market.
