Recovery of Missing Persons Is State’s Duty, Not a Concession: Aslam Raisani
QUETTA: Chief of Sarawan and former Balochistan chief minister Nawab Muhammad Aslam Khan Raisani has called for confidence-building measures between the state and citizens, saying the recovery of missing persons is a responsibility of the state, not a concession.
In a statement on social media platform X, Raisani said it appeared that the state had made an effort to restore confidence in the case of PTI founder Imran Khan. He argued that similar confidence-building measures should be adopted in cases involving missing Baloch persons, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee and individuals detained in connection with the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM).
He said trust between the state and the public was the foundation of lasting stability. According to Raisani, restoring that trust required justice, the rule of law and equal treatment of all citizens.
In a separate message issued on World Humanitarian Day, the former Balochistan chief minister said Pakistan’s rulers must recognize that the country is a multinational state where every nation has its own history, culture, language, land and heritage.
He stressed that humanity must be placed above politics, power and vested interests, saying it was the state’s responsibility to protect the life, property, dignity, freedom and fundamental rights of citizens belonging to every nation.
Raisani particularly highlighted the issue of missing persons and stated that their recovery was a fundamental duty of the state rather than a favor or concession.
He called for equal application of the law and greater efforts to restore public confidence in state institutions.
