Islamabad High Court Should Also Grant Bail to Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan: Aleema Khan

Rawalpindi: Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has said that the Islamabad High Court should also grant bail to both Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi.
Speaking to the media at the Dahagal checkpoint near Adiala Jail, Aleema Khan said the Supreme Court had provided relief to Imran Khan and that he would now be transferred to hospital, a demand the family had been making for the past eight months.
“If Imran Khan has been given relief, then the charges against Bushra Bibi are even weaker. Just as relief has been granted to the founder, Bushra Bibi should have received it earlier,” she said.
Aleema Khan said Noreen Niazi was also expected to meet Imran Khan on Tuesday.
She rejected the impression that the family was politicizing Imran Khan’s health, saying that they were his sisters and naturally spoke about his health.
She added that criticism arose when justice was not provided, while reiterating that the family had already assured the Supreme Court that they would not speak to the media about the matter in a way that violated the court’s directions.
Aleema Khan also said that the family did not need to provide the court with a separate written undertaking because they had already given an assurance before the Supreme Court that they would not come out and make statements to the media.
Referring to previous proceedings involving the Islamabad High Court and other courts, she said, “You know what has happened before in the Islamabad High Court and other courts. There is nothing hidden about it.”
Responding to a question about whether she was receiving relief in her own case, Aleema Khan said she had just returned from the Anti-Terrorism Court and that proceedings in her case were still ongoing.
She said the prosecution’s witness was yet to be cross-examined by her side. “We had said that it could be done tomorrow, but they said they needed time to prepare,” she added.
